5.0 out of 5 stars Editor's Choice. Awesome 3D! Excellent Value!, July 19, 2012

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
I'll admit that I'm used to TVs as I was sold on their silent operation, relatively deep blacks, and uncomplicated, watch even in complete daylight viewing opportunities. I have a 60" Sharp Elite set, which was considered the spare-no-expense best TV on the market when it first came out, so I have pretty high expectations when it comes to picture quality. That said, this projector has helped me come around a little bit as I ended up being VERY impressed with many aspects of its performance.

Projectors are all about BIG picture and I found that came with inherent advantages. Not only do you get to see more detail in the picture because of the size, I found that you also get much more profound 3D effects, and movies that rely on atmosphere and scenery REALLY benefit from the big screen, which pulls you into the environment more than a relatively small TV.

For what it's worth, this projector in particular is pretty kick-butt. While seeing what others thought about... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Updated firmware! Version 103, July 9, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: BenQ W7000 300-Inches 1080p Cinema Quality Home Projection System -Black (Electronics)
Received my w7000 today. I was disappointed to see that it was the old firmware version 101 with a manufacture date of January 2012. I placed my order with Amazon on July 1st. The latest firmware 103 is significantly better and is the only version BenQ ships since May 2012. Amazon must have some old stock. EDIT: just out of curiosity I decided to try the projector out hoping that it was updated to version 103. Low and behold it was! Don't pay attention to the label on the box I guess. I've been reading on forums and reviews on this projector for months now and am pleases to say that it meets all the high expectations I've had. The only negative is perhaps the fan noise but I think that is due to my particular set up. I have it in a wooden box built into the duct work about 6 feet above my head which probably amplifies the fan noise. I'll be looking into building a hush box or at least dampening the sound with acoustic foam. Very pleases with everything else!

4.0 out of 5 stars Affordable 3D at its best!, June 21, 2012
This review is from: BenQ W7000 300-Inches 1080p Cinema Quality Home Projection System -Black (Electronics)
I have owned this projector since January of 2012, and I am very happy with it. You can expect the same superb quality as the BenQ 1080p DLP projectors line for the 2D as well as 3D images. You will need to buy DLP-Link shutter glasses, and after experimenting with various brands of glasses, I found that the ULTRA CLEAR brand worked the best for my home theatre (see my review of the glasses). The projector is very lightweight and very quiet (except when switching from 2D to 3D, and when starting up, it sounds like a car switching gears). It does take it a little time (45 seconds or so) to switch back and forth between 2D and 3D mode. It has many image adjustment features to please individual tastes. You cannot go wrong for the price.
I recommend this projector.
